Naperville Homebuilder Obtains Certifications from NAHB

Naperville, Illinois May 22, 2008 – St. Thomas Homes, a custom home builder in Naperville and Plainfield announces that Richard Cannavino, president of the firm, has obtained his certifications from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) as a Graduate Builder (CGB) and also as a Green Professional (CGP).

“After finding out about initiatives from the NAHB for builders to learn more about green building, I decided to become pro-active,” explains Richard Cannavino. “I knew that I needed to educate myself before I could properly teach consumers how to incorporate green features into their homes - products that will save energy and add to the home’s comfort and increase its long-term value.”

Certification requires extensive educational training on the part of the builder. Cannavino joins a short list of homebuilders achieving these qualifications. According to the National Home Builders Association website, only 19 homebuilders in the state of Illinois currently hold the CGB designation, with only 11 achieving the CGP.

CGB is an exclusive professional designation designed to emphasize business and project management skills. The National Association of Home Builders’ Certified Green Professional Designation teaches builders, remodelers and other industry professionals techniques for incorporating green building principles into homes—without driving up the cost of construction.
